On some protective phenomena of young salmon and humpback salmon

The paper considers degree of the zooplankton communities' homogeneity in the Kola Bay. Data processing has been carried out applying the Chekanovsky coefficient. The conclusions received by using this coefficient have shown the variability in the zooplankton spatial distribution. First of all it is conditioned by peculiarities of the hydrological regime.

Influence of ecological factors on nonspecific immunity of humans dwelling in the North

Dynamics of volumetric activity of air ground layer and atmospheric precipitation on various distances from the Kola Nuclear Power station from 1972 to 2006 has been described. The basic contribution to increase in volumetric activity to these natural environments for the considered period was given by ground nuclear explosions in China in 1970-1980’s and the accident on the Chernobyl NPS in 1986. After that steady reduction of volumetric activity of air ground layer and atmospheric precipitation has been marked up to the present time. Synchronous changes of volumetric activity of air ground layer and atmospheric precipitation specify suggest the direct connection between these natural environments, that proves to be true at carrying out of the correlation analysis.

Dependence of abiotic and biotic environmental factors on probability of embryos and young fish survival

The experimental data obtained by a partial reflections radar and a vertical ionospheric sounder located at the Kola Peninsula (Tumanny, Russia) and the Northern Scandinavia (Sodankyla, Finland) have been analyzed with the aim to detect the ionosphere response to earthquakes. A violent earthquake with the magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale occurred on 17.07.2006 at 08:19:25 UT on the western shore of Indonesia under the very quiet geomagnetic field (?РљСЂ=5). Another earthquake with the magnitude of 9.3 occurred on 26.12.2004 at 00:58:53 UT on Sumatra. On that day the geomagnetic field was disturbed. Before the earthquake on July 17 the amplitude of the ordinary component of a partially-reflected signal at the height of 101 km sharply decreased, whereas the period of signal fluctuations increased. Periods of several hours (3 to 6 hours) are derived from the spectra of the daily amplitudes of the ordinary component of the partially-reflected signal on July 17. The amplitude of frequency fluctuations fmin, which occurred several hours before the beginning of the earthquake increased from 1.0 MHz to 2.2 MHz. The period of 3 to 4 hours for these fluctuations has been derived. Such a period is also found in fluctuations of two other ionospheric parameters, the critical frequency of the sporadic layer (foEs), and the Es layer altitude (h-Es). On the disturbed day, 26.12.04, the amplitude fluctuations with periods of 2 to 5 hours of the signal ordinary component were revealed. From this finding we conclude that the amplitude fluctuations of the ordinary component of the partially-reflected signal and of the other parameters of the lower ionosphere having periods of several hours are produced by the internal gravity waves which are related to the earthquakes.

Mariculture in the Northern countries

The analysis of critical periods in early ontogenesis of fishes has been given. Pecualiarities of reactivity of fish embryos on different stages of embryogenesis and in connection with environment ecology have been considered.

The morphological structure of the liver and pancreas of Atlantic cod juvenile (Gadus morthua L.) in artificial culture

Morphological features of digestive glands of Atlantic cod at early stages of ontogenesis have been studied. It has been shown that difference between liver and pancreas structure of juvenile cod depends on environmental conditions as well as quality and amount of food. The investigations have shown that development of the liver and pancres begins at the early stages of ontogenesis after beginning of exogenous feeding and development of gastric glands. Glycogen storage in the liver cells could be an adaptation which increases survival of the breed under unfavourable feeding conditions.
